Goalkeeper Sam Johnson was in positive mood following the club’s 1-0 friendly win over Sky Bet League Two Oldham Athletic. A man of few words, he had this to say to Shaymen TV,

“Even though its only a friendly, it was good to get out there. The manager has come in and has got some different ideas which all new managers have. Training has been lively; the lads have bought into what he is trying to do”.

On new arrivals Jamie Allen, Jack Earing and Tobi Sho-Silva he commented,

“They’re good, honest people. All of them have been welcomed very well and they have done well in pre-season”.

With the opening fixture of this season’s Vanarama National League campaign away at Ebbsfleet United looming on the horizon the 6’8 stopper added,

“It’s a massive win. It’s been a turbulent season so far with games changing so it was vital for some lads to get 60/70 minutes. We take it into Saturday yeah. I’m looking forward to it, I think some of the lads are just looking forward to getting the season underway now and I’m one of them!”
