Following our poll on Twitter, we are delighted to announce winger Matty Kosylo as our Player of the Month for October!
A bright spark in a rather underwhelming month for Town, our number 7 has looked dangerous in every game he has played in this month with his direct style of player always causing defenders issues.
Although Kosylo didn’t manage to get himself on the score sheet, he has played a massive part in the majority of Town’s attacking displays, especially in the 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood. The winger tormented his opposite number before drilling a shot low which was too hit too sweetly to be held by Grant Smith and Adam Morgan was on hand to turn in the rebound.
A fine month for the winger and even more impressive considering Kosylo missed a game with suspension, the 3-1 defeat to Tranmere in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, a result that could have been a lot different had he and forward Tom Denton been eligible to compete.
Not just in October, the fan favourite has had a great start to this National League campaign and currently sits joint top scorer for the season for Halifax, sitting on five goals with Denton.
The forward will be crucial in the upcoming games in order for Town to get out of this current winless run and he will be hoping he can show his creative abilities and add to his tally of four assists so far this season.
An argument for Kosylo’s game of the season so far could definitely be the 3-2 victory over Maidenhead United back in September where he bagged two goals in an important win, including a superb curling effort which banked in off the post after he cut inside the box and beat two men.
A well-deserved accolade for the winger and gaffer Billy Heath will be hoping he can continue these performances into the month of November and get the Shaymen back to winning ways.
Honourable mentions go to the other nominees for their performances in October, who were Sam Johnson, Josh Wilde and Nathan Hotte who were all unfortunate not to come out on top after a series of good displays for Town.
