After yesterday’s trip to Notts County, ShaymenTV caught up with new signing Charlie Cooper following his debut for the club to discuss how it went, how he’s settling into the group and his personal targets.

On his debut…

“I thought obviously it’s a disappointing result for everyone involved, especially the fans coming here today. They have come up in (good) numbers to be fair to them and they were great all game. So, the biggest thing is, I’m disappointed for them. I thought we started off well, coped with them very well. I thought we created a lot of chances first half where we could have got something. Obviously second half with the second half I thought we would have gone on and got something from that, but with them scoring shortly afterwards its hard then because their players look to drop in and anyone knows it hard to play against something like that.”

On the red card tackle…

“To be fair to him the ball was there to be won, it was bouncing in between us, and he has got the ball and it’s just the follow through and luckily for me, I’m alright. So, there’s no hard feelings.

Settling into life at FCHT…

I’ve only been here for the last week with the lads but straight away I have settled in. They’re a good bunch, they all stay together and even after today, just want to put to bed, and move onto the next game and I think we will be fine. It’s a long season and as long as everyone stays together, with the players we’ve got and the manager and assistant, we will be fine.

Personal Targets…

For me, at this stage of my career, with a bit of unsettlement in the last year, it’s just to get playing regularly and playing well, helping the team as much as I can and hopefully, I do that from now until the end of the season.

Bounce back…

Of course, no doubt about it. I think, obviously they had a great start, last week was a little slip up and then today there is no excuses. We’ve come away to a big place like Notts County, loads of fans and I thought first half we were great and it’s just one of them. But next week we will be ready, and we owe it to the fans to get something for them.
