FC Halifax Town were defeated 3-0 at Maidenhead United. Will Hopper spoke to manager Jamie Fullarton after the game.

Will: An unfortunate loss, can we have your thoughts on the game?

Jamie: Well, I don’t think it’s unfortunate, I don’t think we deserved anything better than we got today. I think it shows in this league if you don’t start correctly, you give cheap goals away and you can’t expect to win games, so whilst disappointed, frustrated and with a little bit of anger, I don’t think you can say it’s unfortunate.

Will: What positives can we take away from the game today?

Jamie: I don’t think we will play as bad in any other game than we did in the first 45 minutes today, that’s the first positive. There was a reaction at half time and into the second half. But we’re not fooled or thinking that it’s a purely down to a change in what we did. When a team’s 3-0 up at home then their attitude towards the second half slightly changes which meant we had a bit of blind pressure without actually going in and imposing ourselves, and it’s one of them games today, based on the 11 games we’ve played, it’s the first time I’ve felt disappointed and frustrated with certain aspects in the first half that put us in a position that we couldn’t get anything from the game.

Will: Another positive I guess would be Niall Maher returning to the starting line-up after injury, how important will he be going forward?

Jamie: Yeah, I think the squad and the group is important, when you get an opportunity to play it’s important that you contribute and add to it and obviously with Sanmi Odelusi who came back in today, whose also been injured since pre-season, so whilst it’s positive, it’s not really on a day like today

Will: So, we will put this game behind us and it will be Hartlepool this Saturday, we’ll hope to get back to winning ways won’t we.

Jamie: Well again, every game that you play and that’s an advantage in this league, when you play 46 games, you have an opportunity to put a bad result, an under performance to bed. It will be a difficult game against Hartlepool, the position they are in the league it will be a fantastic game because we’re at home and the same on Tuesday against AFC Fylde, so one thing that happens and mentality towards a result and more importantly performance today, I’ve got a group of players that understand and appreciate that’s below their standard, their level, they’re just as disappointed and frustrated as I am and that’s what gives us a good opportunity springboard with a home game against Hartlepool.
