FC Halifax Town 3-2 Maidenhead United 09/09/17

The first time in history the two sides have met came last season with Maidenhead gaining promotion into the National League for the first time in their history. The first meeting was at the Shay and it turned out to be a game a full of goals. FC Halifax Town took the lead in the first half with a goal from striker Adam Morgan. Not long into the second half FC Halifax Town doubled their lead after Matty Kosylo’s deflected effort found the net. Matty Kosylo made it game, set and match by adding another to his account and making it 3-0 to FC Halifax Town. 11 minutes to go, Maidenhead pulled one back after Jake Goodman found the net. Marks set up a nervy finish for FC Halifax Town as he made it 3-2 in the 95th minute but FC Halifax Town held on for the win.

Early into the new year and this game didn’t have the same vibe as the last one, with FC Halifax Town visiting York Road for the first ever time, the game ended in stalemate. Maidenhead started strongly and came close with two chances within the first four minutes. Sam Johnson pulled off some great saves and kept Maidenhead out of the game. Both chances fought for a winner at the end but neither side could snatch all three points.

One week after the 0-0 draw, we faced Maidenhead again at the Shay, this time in the FA Trophy. FC Halifax Town started off to a flyer with Matty Kosylo scoring in the first minute to give FC Halifax Town the lead. A very pleasing half for FC Halifax Town was ruined with Moses Emmanuel equalising for Maidenhead just on half time. In the second half FC Halifax Town collapsed with Harry Pritchard scoring early in the second half to give Maidenhead the lead. Shortly after they made it three, Moses Emmanuel got his name on the score sheet again. Next, Maidenhead were given a penalty, Harry Pritchard stepped up and sealed the win for Maidenhead. This was a day to forget for FC Halifax Town.
