This weekend the Shaymen will be hosting the latest fixture against seventh placed Maidenhead as both teams will battle for the vital three points that could help them climb up the Vanarama National League table. Maidenhead are playing exceptionally now as theyโ€™ve won eight of their last fifteen matches, drawn five and losing two in the rest. So far, their average goal thatโ€™s scored per game is two and their average goal conceded is 0.7.

Former Magpie striker Dave Tarpey was the clubs top goal scorer this season as his season record with Maidenhead concluded at seven goals in seven appearances. But the spotlight will be going to midfielder Ryan Upward who scored the first goal against their recent opponents Sutton United. The club clearly need a new talisman and Upward could be it.

Described as an โ€œall actionโ€ local central midfielder. Upward joined the Magpies from Burnham in the summer of 2014 and has also experience playing for Flackwell Heath and Beaconsfield SYCOB. Having spent the majority of the 2016/17 season injured, Upwards last goal for Maidenhead was on the 22nd October 2016 against Hampton and Richmond Borough in the National League Conference South division.

Upward has made over 50 appearances for the Magpies so far and is contracted till the end of this season. Now that Tarpey has departed the club and joined Barnet, Upward could be Maidenheadโ€™s top scorer.

You can watch FC Halifax Town take on Ryan Upward and Maidenhead at the MBi Shay Stadium this Saturday on the 9th of September.
