Tuesday night will see FC Halifax Town begin their journey in this season’s Buildbase FA Trophy against fellow Vanarama National League side, Macclesfield Town.

Billy Heath’s men are coming into the fixture undoubtedly with high confidence following their outstanding victory away at the promotion chasing Aldershot Town last Saturday. They will hope that the result can kick-start a run of good form going into the busy festive period.

The two towns have seen plenty of each in footballing terms since Halifax’s revival in 2008 with league games in the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 season

In this short period beginning this Tuesday and ending on New Year’s Day, the two sides will meet three times in the FA Trophy along with both league fixtures at Moss Rose and the MBi Shay Stadium.

Looking back on the previous results, this fixture has not produced a plethora of goals and seems to have been a tight match-up.

Town avoided defeat in all six matches but in our last meeting, the Shaymen were relegated on the final day of the 2015/16 season with a 1-1 draw that wasn’t enough to stay up.

Earlier that season Town had walked away from Moss Rose with a full three points. The Shaymen kept a clean sheet as the game finished 0-1 with Shaun Tuton claiming the only goal of the match.

The Shaymen will look to march into the second round with a victory on Tueaday night and the home supporters at The MBi Shay will certainly be right behind the side after last week’s performance.
