As 2017 draws to a close, FC Halifax Town will kick-start their new year with a game against the league leaders Macclesfield at home. Scott Wilson is this week’s player in the spotlight.
Scott began his career at the Bristol City academy, however got his chance at senior level when he moved to Weston-Super-Mare in June 2015. He didn’t fail to impress, scoring 24 goals in 42 appearances for the National League South side.
In July 2016, Wilson signed for Eastleigh, however his opportunities with the club, though, Scott still managed six goals in 12 starts for the Spitfires. Wilson arrived at the Moss Rose in the summer of 2017 on a one-year deal and opened his Silkmen account with a stunning goal in the pre-season victory over Bury.
With the Vanarama National League reaching its halfway mark in the 2017/18 season, Wilson’s season tally stands at 10 goals in 23 appearances. The last time he met the Shaymen was only a couple of weeks ago where the Silkmen came from a goal behind to beat Town 2-1 on Boxing Day, Wilson featured for 84 minutes before being substituted for Silkmen midfielder Mitch Hancox.
With only one Player of the Month award to his name this season, Wilson will continue to perform. Let’s hope the lad forgets his shooting boots come matchday.
