Lincoln City: Will Be Totally Different

On Saturday two Lee Gregory goals earned FC Halifax Town yet another hard-fought January draw, this time coming against the in-form Aldershot.

Midfield battler Matt Pearson is hoping that the team can push on and build from a string of good results as the 20-year-old and his teammates look for an away win: “We’ve got to go there looking for the three points. It’s not an overnight stay for us and I think all the lads will be confident we can get three points.”

Pearson earned himself an early penalty in the reverse fixture which eventually finished with a 5-1 thumping of their weekend opponents Lincoln City. Despite his young age however, Pearson is wise to the fact that games in the Skrill Conference Premier are the epitome of unpredictable: “It will give us a confidence boost but I think that at the same time you can’t underestimate a team.

“It’ll be totally different when we’re down there, you only have to look at us, everyone plays well at home so we need to go there and we need to make sure we don’t underestimate them and we’ll do alright.”

Without a January win things could seem a little down around the Shay, but in fact, the mood is quite the contrary. With draws against the likes of Cambridge, Wrexham and Aldershot Town have actually acquired quite a buzz, and they will be looking to take this into the game against Lincoln and pick up three points against a team with just one win in their last ten: “Maybe, I don’t take into consideration what they’ve done in their last ten games, I just go there and expect to win. At the end of the day, the team expect to win, they’re below us in the league and we should be looking to at least sort our away form out and get a win there.”

Full of confidence and looking to for more away wins, there is no reason Town can’t take three points come Saturday, especially with an in-form Lee Gregory spearheading the attack: “At the weekend it really shows, he got two goals out of nothing really and it’s always good to have that striker that you can just rely on to get the goals. Having said that, it is a team effort. Greggs is a fantastic player for any team, even a lot higher than us so we just need to give him the service he needs and hopefully he can get a few more for us.”
