After FC Halifax Town’s 4-2 victory over King’s Lynn Town, midfielder Luke Summerfield spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It is pleasing to come away with a win,” Summerfield said. “There was obviously the disappointment from the other night, and we knew that was not good enough from us on Tuesday. We knew we had to put it right today. We have not started right today, like the other night, but we have come away with three points and that was the aim. It was a big game for us, and we reacted really well. It is a massive three points for us.”

Town found themselves going into the break level having come from 2-0 down with goals from Billy Chadwick and Jake Hyde.

“The goals before half time were massive for us,” Summerfield told Shaymen TV. “To go in conceding like that would have been a downer for us. But going in level after being behind was a massive boost for us. We regrouped at half time and knew if we worked hard, we know we have enough quality at the top end of the pitch to create chances and score goals.”

Summerfield found himself on the scoresheet in just his second start since coming back from injury, with his goals putting the Shaymen 3-2 up.

“It was nice to be out there,” Summerfield said. “I have worked my socks off to try and get myself back playing. The lads have been in a different class whilst I have been out. I can not speak highly enough of Aaron, the treatment, and all the physios that have helped me come back. It was nice to get a full 90 minutes, a goal, and to keep getting back to full fitness.”

The Shaymen travel to Chesterfield on Tuesday night with both sides looking to consolidate their places in the play-off spots.

“Every game is a massive game,” Summerfield told Shaymen TV. “There are not going to be any easy games. Every game is going to be slightly different. We need to prepare right for Tuesday as we know there are no easy games. We have the capabilities to go on a really good run now and hopefully we will be where we want to be at the end of the season.”
