FC Halifax Town run riot at Ewen Fields with Town striker and skipper Lee Gregory notching yet another hat-trick in a 5-1 rout.

We got the thoughts of Gregory after the empathetic win “Class win today the lads really pulled together today, we just showed that we can pull together and win away and we just need to take that onto Welling now next week.”
Gregory scored three but he believes the strikes from Paul Marshall and Ryan Crowther deserve the plaudits. “My goals were alright but to be honest I think my goals are the bottom half of the table compared to Marshall’s and Ryan’s (Crowther) today their two goals were really good.”
Gregory snatched one in the first half with a real poachers effort and went on to score more stylish finishes in the second-half, Lee talked us through his goals.”With my first one when the ball came into the box I always know Robbo (Marc Roberts) is going to win his headers he always wins his headers so I just tried to gamble on Robbo really. The second I thought I was about three miles offside but hey, I will take that all day! The third was good but Marshy put it on a plate for me. Marshy played brilliant today putting good balls into me for the second and third so credit goes to Marshy.”
On full time it didn’t go unnoticed that Gregory handed the match ball to a Shaymen fan, we asked Lee why after the game. “Just one of the fans, his daughter was shouting that she wanted the ball, I just thought it would be nice gesture to just give it away instead of keeping it this time, so I did just that.”
The striker has now hit 23 league goals this season and has notched 25 in all competitions but Gregory is still off from his personal goal target. “I have got a goal but I’m not going to tell you this, I had a goal at the beginning of the season to score between 20-22 goals and I’ve reached that now and gone past that and I’m happy but I’ve got another goal in my head that I want to try and achieve. But I’m not going to tell you, I will tell you once the season has finished. I don’t want to jinx it!”
Gregory believes focusing on enjoying today’s win and carrying it forward to the Welling away next week is a must. “We’ve not really thought about Welling next week, I think we are just really enjoying this win because obviously we don’t win away, the lads have proved that we are capable of winning away and we do want to take it to Welling, we just want to take this positive 5-1 win to Welling and I think we can get a result there as well.
“The lads played exceptionally well today, Marshy, Robbo, Aingie all played well, Macca (McManus), Ryan Crowther all brilliant today. We just need to take that to Welling, we’ve not really been doing that away from home, we played today like we were at home and we have not being doing that at all this year, hopefully we can take it to Welling and get a result.”
