Following from FC Halifax Town’s 2-1 away defeat to Havant & Waterlooville, Cameron King spoke to the official website to give his thoughts following the disappointing result.

He said: “I think obviously we were completely in the game at 0-0 and we definitely had to up it if we were going to get something from the game. First 15 minutes coming out for the second half we didn’t do that, and it was just mistake after mistake and we were punished, and rightly so. We can’t allow ourselves to come out for the second half and be that sloppy. Then after that we dominated the rest of the game, but we only managed to get one back, very disappointed. We’ve got a week off now and go again Saturday.”

With Havant & Waterlooville taking the lead in the 48th minute through a Cordner, King admits that Havant & Waterlooville’s change of style following the goal made it difficult for the Shaymen.

He Said: “Obviously when you go 1-0 or 2-0 down they’re going to sit back and they’re going to invite pressure and there are just going to try and protect their lead. It definitely changed the game, we struggled to get them on the counter attack once they dropped deeper and that’s one of our main strengths, which was frustrating because especially the way they scored their goals, it’s poor on our part and we know we’re better than that.”

Most of the time when a player gets sent off it completely changes the complexion of the game, however, with only a few minutes left on the clock King acknowledged that there wasn’t going to be enough time to really capitalise.

He said: “Obviously, there was about two minutes left after that, one more ball into the box, I think it was there left back so it’s not going to be a massive difference.”

Finally looking ahead next Saturday’s FA Cup fixture, King knows that the rest of the team are desperate to get the win to break the run.

He said: “I think it’ll be exactly the same, the gaffer will set us up with exactly how he wants us to play so the boys will be back at it and hungry because after losing the way we have in the last couple of weeks, we’re desperate for a win and hopefully Saturday we get the win.”
