FC Halifax Town will be aiming for a third consecutive victory on Thursday evening when they welcome Gateshead to the MBi Shay Stadium.

The Shaymen go into the encounter on the back of home wins over promotion hopefuls Boreham Wood and Sutton United, with both games ending 2-1.

The results have all but mathematically guaranteed the side’s place in the Vanarama National League next season, with them currently sitting in 14th position in the table.

Form wise, since February Halifax have only lost once, with the game away at AFC Fylde being the only blip on the record.

Jamie Fullarton’s men have avoided defeat in 8 of their last 9 outings, drawing 3 times and winning the rest, a far cry from the Shaymen’s form at the beginning of the calendar year.

For Gateshead, the side have gone 3 games without a win, as well as without finding the back of the net since their 7-1 victory over Maidenhead United.

The result against The Magpies is Steve Watson’s men’s sole win since the end of January.

The Heed have endured a tricky 2018, with them losing 4 and drawing 4 of their last 9 games, which has culminated in them sitting in 16th place, just 6 points off the danger zone but possessing a few games in hand.
