Cambridge are just one point off top spot after they took all three points away at Tamworth last night. A 63rd minute goal from Liam Hughes was enough to earn the U’s a 1-0 win over struggling Tamworth to keep close on the tails of Luton.

There were plenty of shocks across the conference last night as many promotion pushes took a sudden halt. Perhaps the biggest upset of the night came at the Aggborough Stadium where second from bottom Dartford picked up only their second away win of the season to beat Kidderminster 2-1. Kidderminster who lye just once place outside the play-off spots missed a golden to break into the top 5.

Fourth placed Gateshead also missed a good opportunity to claw back some ground on the leaders when they too dropped points on home turf. After going behind to an early Joe Healy goal, who now has three in two games, the home side could only manage a 1-1 with Welling United.

It was a bad night for home sides across the board last night with only Macclesfield Town claiming victory at home, with a 3-1 win over Lincoln. Barnet’s quest to finish in a play-off spot was dealt another blow last night when they lost 3-1 at the Hive to Aldershot Town. It was a disappointing start for interim boss Paul Fairclough, who took control on Monday following Edgar David’s departure.

Chester managed to climb out of the drop zone with a tight 1-0 away from over fellow strugglers Woking in what was certainly a relegation six pointer. A late goal by Wrexham’s Joe Anyinsah stole all three points away at Southport who have consequently slipped into the relegations places.
