We are delighted to announce the Enterprise National League Manager and Player of the Month award winners for November – and it’s a double celebration at York City.
After five days of deliberations, our panel decided two Minstermen must be knighted as Stuart Maynard and Ollie Pearce are honoured.
The selection committee – made up of DAZN pundit Aaron Mclean, the Non-League Paper’s editor Matt Badcock and Richard, Rob, Joe and Luke from the NLFullTime
podcast – decided Maynard was a must.
Taking the accolade over fellow nominees Robbie Savage. Chris Agutter and Mark Hughes, who all enjoyed a memorable four weeks with Forest Green Rovers, Sutton and Carlisle United respectively, six wins in a fabulous month swung things in Maynard’s favour.
York recovered from the set-back of falling just short against Barnsley in the FA Cup by going on a goal rampage.
They scored four times in each of their next four games, swatting aside Gateshead, Eastleigh, Morecambe and title rival Rochdale.
But by those standards they were clearly slacking at Brackley Town, only managing the three goals, before putting that right by hitting Aldershot Town for five.
No side has scored more than York in the top six divisions of English football so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see one of their strikers taking the acclaim for the Player award.
Pearce the predator was the all-round magic man for the Minstermen after six goals and four assists.
His tally already stands at 16 – and he is currently four ahead in the race for the Golden Boot.
There was competition from Kyle McAllister of Forest Green Rovers, Lewis Simper at Sutton United and Woking’s Okoli Woking but there was only one man for the job, the
panel decided.
Congratulations to both this month’s worthy winners!
