FC Halifax Town were held to a 0-0 draw at Dorking Wanderers.

Town came into this match looking to capitalise on Tuesday’s 5-0 win over Wealdstone.

The Shaymen forced Dorking ‘keeper Daniel Lincoln into numerous saves throughout the match but couldn’t quite find the back of the net.

The Town boss, Chris Millington, made no changes to his side that won on Tuesday night.

The first 15 minutes of the match were quite an even affair. Almost from kick off, the hosts had a chance to take the lead when a long throw met the head of Daniel Gallagher. However, his header was just over the bar.

Town had their fair share of the action in the box throughout the opening quarter as Milli Alli’s volley forced Lincoln into a save.

Just before the half hour mark, Town had the chance to go ahead. Harvey Gilmour’s cross met the head of Jesse Debrah. His effort was heading for the back of the net, but Lincoln made an incredible save to punch the ball away from goal.

Just before half time, Jack Hunter was shown a yellow card for a foul on the halfway line.

Dorking Wonderers made two changes at the break. Luke Moore and Harry Ottaway replaced James McShane and Jason Prior.

The Shaymen started the second half brightly as Alli charged into the box. He fired a shot at goal, but he was denied by Lincoln in the Dorking net.

Alli was in on the action again in the 56th minute. He played the ball through to Fidel O’Rourke who did well to control the ball before having a shot. However, his effort was just off target and rattled the crossbar.

In the 60th minute, Gilmour was shown a yellow card for a foul in the Town half.

Just two minutes later, Town had a free kick on the edge of the box after Gilmour was brought down. As a result, Gallagher and Moore were shown yellow cards. Gilmour took the kick and went for goal but he hit the bar.

Town’s first substitution came in the 66th minute when Luke Summerfield came on to replace Hunter.

Dorking began to grow back into the game with a spell of pressure just before the 70th minute. Bobby Joe Taylor tried to find the back of the net, but Town managed to clear their lines without the shot testing Sam Johnson.

Millington made his second change of the afternoon when Matt Warburton replaced Jamie Cooke.

The Shaymen continued to search for the equaliser when Angelo Cappello played a ball in to O’Rourke who tried to find the bottom corner. Lincoln got down to his right to make the save. Dorking quickly went on the counter; Moore’s long-range effort went over the bar.

Moore had another go at goal, but Adam Senior was on hand to clear the danger for Town.

Town’s third and final change came with ten minutes to go. Cappello made way for Mani Dieseruvwe.

Two minutes later, Dorking made their final change as Barry Fuller came on for Callum Kennedy.

In the first minute of added time, Fuller was shown a yellow card for Dorking.

Despite having the better chances of the two sides, there was nothing Town could do to break the deadlock. The result saw Town have their first goalless League game since they faced Southend United in August.

Next up for the Shaymen is a trip up north to Gateshead. The match will kick off at 7:45pm on Tuesday night.
