An early Niall Maher goal was cancelled out by a second-half Alfie May striker as the Shaymen draw against SkyBet League One outfit Doncaster Rovers.
The game began vibrantly for Halifax, as new signing Jamie Allen found space on the edge of the Doncaster box, his powerful effort beat the goalkeeper, only to strike the Doncaster post.
On the 20th minute mark, Halifax continued to apply pressure on their hosts and eventually, this was rewarded after Niall Maher struck low to beat Ian Lawlor and put the West Yorkshire side in front.
The hosts hit back and nearly pulled level as Alfie May’s header from short range whistled inches wide of Sam Johnson’s goal.
Early in the second half, Rovers began to find their rhythm and really tested the Halifax defensive line, who remained firm courtesy of some brilliant defensive work from the experienced duo Nathan Clarke and Matty Brown.
Minutes before the hour mark, Doncaster pulled level after Alfie May lost his marker and drilled the ball past goalkeeper Sam Johnson.
Towards the closing phases of the game, Doncaster continued to threaten using the flanks to create chances, substitute Jacob Hanson remained alert throughout to prevent the hosts from edging in front.
Seven minutes from time, Maher nearly doubled his account after having a long-range free kick tipped over the bar.
The Shaymen next travel to Blackwell Meadows to face Vanarama National League North side, Darlington FC in their third pre-season friendly
