An eagerly anticipated away trip awaits the Shaymen in the first round of the FA Cup as they meet Dagenham & Redbridge.

This will be the first official meeting between FC Halifax Town and Dagenham since Town reformed in 2008.

Halifax Town AFC made the 215 mile trip to Victoria Road 10 years ago when competing in the National League and suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat in what was a poor year for the club.

During that season the Shaymen were placed into administration by a local consortium trying to buy the club. Despite being docked 10 points the side managed to survive relegation on the final day of the season.

The club failed to get a Company Voluntary Arrangement, required to bring the club out of administration, and thus were demoted three divisions to the Northern Premier League Division One North.

The club was then dissolved, and reformed as the club we see today.

Since the reformation The Shaymen have rocketed through the leagues, making their way to the National League.

This is Halifax Town’s 5th appearance in the FA Cup first round in just the 9 years the club has competed in the competition.

Having never made it to the second round, the club comes into the tie in great form and have a have a brilliant chance of progressing, coming off the back of six straight wins and scoring 19 goals along the way, conceding just two.

The Shaymen travel to Dagenham & Redbridge on bonfire night, November 5 at 3pm.
