Following the postponement of today’s match against Dagenham and Redbridge, the club would like to provide clarity as to the decisions made by today’s Match Referee, Joseph Johnson.
On the basis of yesterday’s forecast the pitch covers were used overnight in anticipation of freezing temperatures which never materialised. The pitch was inspected by the Match Referee and was deemed playable at 12.30 pm. The weather then deteriorated and the Match Referee made the decision to inspect the pitch again at 1.45 pm. He decided in consultation with his match officials and both Managers, that due to the subsequent volume of rain that had fallen since 12.30pm and the lack of improvement in the weather forecast for the coming hours, the pitch was unplayable. The decision was made with safety in mind for both sets of players.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we will confirm the date of the rearranged fixture asap.
