We got the thoughts of seasoned centre-back Chris Smith ahead of Wednesday night’s play-off tie with Cambridge Unitedat the Shay:

β€œEveryone was saying before the game where would you like to finish but you can’t pick and choose you playΒ  who you play, it would have been good for the club to finish third but the name of the game is to finish in the play-offs and that is what we have done. Now it is a three game season and that is how we look at it.”

Smith stressed that the FC Halifax players have the confidence:

β€œEvery game is different, listen the form we were on, we got beat at Southport and we knew we weren’t right. But theΒ  form we are on I believe the lads have got more belief now as well that we can go down there now and get a result andΒ  get to the final and there is no better way ofΒ  getting to the final then beating Cambridge and repaying them for the defeat down there.”

Smith also offered his thoughts of our previous draw at home to Kidderminster Harriers:

β€œEven though everyone was telling us get it done before the game to end on a good note and get in the play-offs without relying on goal difference. It is nice to get that point and carry that run on because obviously we got beat Monday so the gaffer stressed massively that he didn’t want it just to be an end of season game it’s not nothing it is still form of going in to Wednesday or Thursday’s game going into the play-offs.

β€œIt’s one of those as well the home record have been good all year so we don’t just want to end it on a sour note so everyone’s delighted yeah.”
