FC Halifax Town Under 19s have progressed to the next round of The FA Youth Cup, after beating Buxton Under 19s 5-1 in a convincing display at Silverlands.
On a bright sunny day in the Derbyshire Dales the young Shaymen had to wait to the 11th minute before the deadlock was broken. Nick Crane rose highest at a corner to put his side into the lead.
Captain Mohammed Subriani had the simple job of tapping the ball home for the second, after Gary Da Costa was quick to pounce onto a poor clearance from the Buxton keeper. Da Costa got around one defender played it across for Subriani to find the corner.
Buxton got a goal back within five minutes. A goal on the counter attack after an attacking free-kick for Town. The Buxton striker was slipped through a provided a good finish from 20 yards to put it in the corner.
Town got an early goal to squash any thought of a Buxton comeback within four minutes of the restart. After some scrappy play in midfield it was The Shaymen who put their ball and started to play. Matthew Rowson got onto a through ball in the right channel, got himself into the box and did well to find the net from a tight angle.
Gary Da Costa got the first of his brace, after some good patient play from Towns midfield. Subriani brought the ball into the box before three Buxton defenders were onto him. Subriani was able to get the ball between their legs for Da Costa to finish from 10 yards out.
The final goal of the day came from Buxton trying to play out from the back. Patrick Grooms intercepted before it got into the Town half. Which led to a good build up the right wing, Rowson then got himself to the by-line and hitting a cross right into the corridor of uncertainty with Da Costa at the back post to slide in to score.
The draw for the next round the third qualifying round will be made next week.
