FC Halifax Town won 2-1 away at Barrow to make it back to back wins over the Bank Holiday weekend. Lewis Tomlinson caught up with the Town manager Pete Wild after the win

Overall thoughts on the game please?

โ€œFirst half I felt we looked like a team that was tired from Saturday, the heat as well didnโ€™t really help us and weโ€™ve conceded an early goal which was disappointing. Itโ€™s something that weโ€™ve got address and stop conceding early goals. I thought we grew into the game, we had limited chances in the first half but we did okay. At half time we felt we had to change it tactically. Cameron King was very tired from Saturday, he put a lot into it, so we brought Cam off to give him a rest, moved McAlinden inside one and brought Jeff on and luckily it worked for us.โ€

What was the mood in the dressing room like at half time?

โ€œWe just needed to gee them up a little bit. Some of the lads needed to give us more than they were giving us and they got told that. It was really pleasing cos when you give somebody a gee up it can either go one of two ways, they can go into their shell and blame other people or they can do something about it, and the three lads we sort of lightly dug out, they responded second half so Iโ€™m really pleased with that.โ€

How pleasing is it for you as a manager for when you choose to shuffle the pack and change formation to see it pay off?

โ€œItโ€™s pleasing. It shows our versatility, that weโ€™re not one dimensional. It shows that weโ€™ve got a bit about us, and donโ€™t get me wrong, we were under pressure in the second half; Barrow are a very, very good side and they put us under pressure, but one thing these lads can do is defend their own box and theyโ€™ve done that magnificently.โ€

And coming into this on the back of the 4-1 victory, do you think the boys showed a different way to win today?

โ€œ100%. The boys showed character, they showed desire, a willingness to do things better and weโ€™ll reflect on this game at some point and look at what got us over the line. Weโ€™ve got to keep doing that, and doing that, because today was a big statement of how we can grind out a result and weโ€™ve got more like that in us, because weโ€™ll have to play like this again and still get results.โ€
