After scoring on the opening day of the new Vanarama National League campaign, Nathan Clarke spoke to the official website about the upcoming home fixture against Barrow AFC.

“I’m looking forward to it, bring them on. It’s another tough game but one that we’ll be prepared for. We’ll do our homework and that starts now on the way back on the coach, getting the fluids on board, eating correctly and just being professional about the situation”.

We then asked Nathan if he is expecting a lot of tough games this season. He was full of respect for the standard of the league as he explained:

“It’s going to be a tough league, you’re not going to be able to take your foot off the gas. We’ve got players in this team that are certainly driving us on everyday in training and that’s what we want as a team. We’re a relatively young side with myself being the only player over 30. We’re full of energy and lads that are desperate to do well for the club”.

Nathan was full of praise for the fans who made the long journey to Braintree yesterday and wants to see a big crowd on Tuesday night against Barrow AFC.

“After speaking with a couple of the lads, last season’s away following was fantastic. As a player when you play in front of crowds that back you, you don’t get anything better than that. We want to put in a good performance for them. Hopefully our performance will attract a few more to the Shay”.

You can see Nathan Clarke and the rest of the team in action this Tuesday night against Barrow AFC. Kickoff is at 7:45pm at the MBi Shay Stadium.
