A dominating display for the Shaymen gave them back to back wins for the first time since the first two games of the season. Two new signings Manny Duku and Devante Rodney were on the scoresheet to get themselves their first goals for the Shaymen in a 3-0 victory over Barnet.
The first chance of the game came for the Shaymen with a great interchange between Hardy and Rodney and the ball was sent through to Quigley. He was left one on one with keeper, but he hesitated and went take it round Barnet Goalkeeper Mark Cousins, and Quigley’s shot was saved with a slight touch, the referee wrongly gave a goal kick.
Halifax seemed to of gained a bit of motivation after the chance though, the ball fell to the feet of Michael Duckworth around 30 yards out and he didn’t half strike the ball, unluckily though the ball just blazed over the bar.
Ryan Sellars was ever so close to scoring a wondergoal from a cross, which was sent in from near the left corner flag and almost found its way in the top right corner but was cleared away off the line by the Barnet defence.
A goal was due coming for the Shaymen as they were dominating all the ball inside the first half and leaving Barnet with no chance of coming forward.
On the 36th minute that goal came for the Shaymen. The ball was whipped into the far back post from Sellers to Brown who’s header into the box was cleared to Kosylo who touched the ball down fantastically and touches the ball slightly in front of him to strike a cracking shot from 30 yards, Barnet’s keeper Mark Cousins made a great save but parried the ball to the path of Devante Rodney who smashed the ball into the roof of the net for his first goal in Halifax colours, to put the Shaymen a goal up.
Barnet tried fighting back towards the end of the first half, but the usual solid defence of FC Halifax Town held their own inside the first half.
Barnet looked the more active inside the opening minutes of the first half, looking for an equaliser but struggled to create anything.
The Shaymen certainly capitalised on that making it 2-0 just before the 60th minute. James Hardy had the ball inside the box twisting and turning, he shimmied himself to the side of the Barnet defenders to lay the ball off for James Ferry who didn’t get the best connection on the ball, but the ball found the net past Barnet Keeper Mark Cousins.
Well the Shaymen didn’t want to end it there and they carried on with the goalscoring to put their fans in delight. The ball was played out wide to Rodney and Halifax were flying men forward, Rodney ran into the box and easily found Duku who passed the ball into the net for his first goal for the Shaymen, minutes after coming on.
Minutes later, Barnet had the chance to grab a consolation with Matty Brown diving in and the referee awarded Barnet a penalty. Barnet’s top scorer Shaq Coulthirst stepped up take the penalty, but you won’t see the Shaymen giving away their clean sheet that easily, Coulthirst put his penalty to the right and Sam Johnson dived the right way to keep the score at 3-0.
Promising signs taken from a fantastic display from FC Halifax Town and sends the Shaymen 12th in the National League.
