FC Halifax Town suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Aldershot Town. The defeat saw the Shaymen slide down to 13th in the table.

Captain Nathan Clarke gave us his thoughts of the Halifaxโ€™s 5th defeat of the season.

โ€œNot good enough from the team, nowhere near what we produced in previous games and we need to improve as soon as possible.โ€

As the rain had been coming down all day itโ€™s fair to say that play was affected, however, Nathan Clarke was adamant that the weather was not a contributing factor to the poor performance.

โ€œThe conditions are the conditions, Iโ€™ve played in various conditions and you get on with it. Itโ€™s the same clichรฉ, itโ€™s the same for both teams so we need to not blame anything, and I think weโ€™ve got to look at ourselves.โ€

Clarke believes that due various suspensions and injuries, this game was an opportunity for other players to step up as he said:

โ€œWeโ€™ve had 2 big characters out of the team and it was a chance for people to step up and show the manager what theyโ€™re worth and to keep hold of the shirt.โ€

Throughout the game Halifax had chances to get goals and Clarke acknowledged that on another day they would have gone in.

โ€œAlthough we conceded the goals we did, I think I had a chance with a header that just went wide, I think there was a shout for a penalty and like you say in the first half there was 1 or 2 that on another day had we played the right ball and itโ€™s an opportunity for us but it wasnโ€™t to be.โ€

Looking forward to next Saturday and the home game against Chesterfield Clarke believes that this is another opportunity to get some much-needed points against a struggling Chesterfield side.

โ€œTheyโ€™ll be another tough challenge theyโ€™ve been struggling initially theyโ€™ve been hoping to turn that round themselves. But itโ€™s a chance for us to go and put on a proper performance.โ€

Finally, Clarke acknowledged the support the team gets and accepts that recent have been good enough as he said:

โ€œI know the traveling fans who have backed us there and clapped us off. We need to give them something to start cheering about now and really get behind us as recent performances havenโ€™t done that.โ€
