FC Halifax Town drew 0-0 with Aldershot Town at the MBI Shay stadium in a difficult game of football for both sides.

After the game, Matty Brown spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the draw.

“It was a tight game just as we thought it was going to be with two teams down towards the bottom of the table. We knew how important getting the win was today, but it just didn’t happen for us. It was very bitty at times and we just didn’t have that cutting edge at the end of the pitch and probably didn’t deserve to win the game. We’ve just got to move on, that game is gone now, we’re focusing on Tuesday night, we know how important all games are now for getting points on the board.”

As a defender and captain of the team, Brown doesn’t want to take too much credit for the clean sheet kept and just wants to move on.

“It’s our job to keep clean sheets. We don’t want to get loads of credit for that. They’re good to get as a defender but it’s more important we put them in at the other end now and start scoring some goals. Today wasn’t the worst point in the world, it’s another one on the board, but we move on to Tuesday. We’ve got to go for it there and we’ll be going to win the game.”

Joe Skarz missed the game at left back which meant another rotation in defence for The Shaymen, Ryan Sellars came in.

“Fair play to Ryan (Sellars). He has been out of the team for a while, but he works hard in training and he’s naturally fit. You can see today he put a good shift in, and his fitness levels were on display. Just as a team we need to up the quality a little bit. I’ve said for a while as soon as it does click, it will really click.”

An hour before kick-off James Hardy was announced on a month loan deal from AFC Fylde, we asked Brown on the impact he can make at the Shay.

“We only met him yesterday ourselves, but you can see straight away in training that he’s got ability! He’s a player that likes to get in between strikers and midfielders and into that horrible position where you don’t know whether to mark him or leave him. He’s very good technically, like Kossy (Matty Kosylo) as in he can make things happen. So, we just have to make sure we can get him on the ball in the right areas and I’m sure he’ll be a good signing.”

In a busy week coming up for Halifax, Brown says it’s important to concentrate on every game as it comes.

“We go to win both games. We are at the stage of the season now where we can’t hide behind anything, we’ll go and try to win both games. We’ll see where we are at the end of the week and reflect on it then. We’re not even thinking about Havant at the minute. We’re on Maidstone and recovering correctly over the weekend, getting into training on Monday, travelling down on Tuesday and going there to get the three points.”
