In a season that has seen Afc Halifax yet to pick up a win from their first 2 games, they headed into this clash with Leyton Orient needing a good performance, it would be far from Mission Impossible, but they knew they would have to turn up and perform well.

The first good chance however went to Leyton Orient, who’s striker managed to get away from player manager John Barker, but couldn’t find the target. Luckily for Halifax, they managed to get on the front foot and didn’t look back.

The breakthrough came just 10 minutes in when a Nathan Wright flick on from midfield, found Martin Probets, who got away from his marker, knocked it past The Others, and slotted home.

The second wasn’t far away, with a cross from the ever improving Callum Hannan, found Lee Casalinos head, he got enough power on it, but not quite enough accuracy with the keeper pulling off a great save to his right, but couldn’t turn it away from goal, as Adam Ramsden managed to get his head on the rebound and into the empty net.

Halifax went 3-0 up inside of 25 minutes thanks to another Martin Probets run, with a goal similar to his first. Martin showed All The Right Moves, and got clear of the Orient backline, and coolly placed the ball past the on rushing keeper.

With Afc Halifax now running away with it, Martin managed to get his hat-trick, some very quick thinking by Ben Fawkes saw him take a quick throw, which led to Ramsden going through on goal, with Martin as support, he squared it to his mate who tapped it into the empty net.

In a performance that was anything but Magnolia, Halifax just kept making chances and scoring chances. The next goal wouldn’t really be classed as a chance as it came from a 30/35-yard effort. The ball got played through to Adam Ramsden, who found himself in-between the defence and midfield, with neither going to press him, he looked up, picked his spot and curled a simply lovely shot right into the top left corner, and leaving the goalkeeper grasping at thin air.

Halifax now 5-0 up, and with 10 minutes to go before half time, there was still more to come! Leyton Orient weren’t playing bad, and had certainly not given up by any means, Afc Halifax were just playing some amazing football. Right from the back, some call it Risky Business but the defence of Heaton, Adam Probets, and Barker, simply passed their way out of trouble, being very confident on the ball.

Ramsden was soon to join Martin in the hat-trick club, when, just 2 minutes after his outrageous 2nd goal, he scored his 3rd. Collecting a loose ball about 25 yards out he saw the Orient keeper off his line, and lobbed it over him, leaving him in no man’s land.

It was that man again, Adam Ramsden who managed to make it 7-0, and scored 3 goals, and his 4th of the day, within 5 minutes. A defence splitting ball through from Phil saw Ramsden 1 on 1 with the keeper, who came rushing out, Ramsden waited for the keeper to go to ground and dinked it over the top of him sending the ball into the net with a really tidy finish.

With just 5 minutes of the half to go, and Halifax 7-0 up, it was soon to be come 8 and then 9! Both goals coming from Martin Probets, who now took his tally for the day to 5. The first was a through ball from Wrighty, who found Martins run and he found the goal.     The second coming from a Ben Fawkes strike that the keeper parried into Martins path, who just had to find the net. At 9-0 that was the first half over, not a bad half of football!

With Halifax going into the break with a 9 goal advantage you’d have thought that the water bottle may have replaced with a Cocktail, and although Barker was full of praise for his team, pronouncing it as ‘the best football Afc Halifax have ever played’, he asked the team to continue their good work.

The second half started slowly for both teams, with Afc Halifax wanting to keep their sheet clean and perhaps feeling the effects of a full throttle first half! The first goal came in the 60th minute, with Nathan Wright picking up the ball on the edge of the box and picking his spot, slamming the ball low into the corner and into net off the post. This saw some subs come on for Halifax, with Stanley Noble, Alex Barrett and Adie Hollands taking the field to join in the fun!

Afc Halifax kept going and kept playing from the back and picking their moments to strike, and getting Halifax’s 11th goal was Phil, who found space in the box with some twists, and some turns and picked his spot, drilling past the keeper.

With 15 minutes of the game to go, Adam Ramsden managed to also get his 5th goal of the game. Some good work on the left-hand side by Martin Probets saw him get inside of the box and pull the ball back to Ramsden who took a touch with his left, shifted it onto his right and placed the ball high past the outstretched hand of the Orient keeper and saw the net ripple. Afc Halifax 12 – 0 Leyton Orient.

Leyton Orient, not wanting to have a completely wasted journey, had still not given up and built up some solid pressure and started to have a few chances, a mixture of bad shooting, good keeping by Dave Sutton and a last-ditch tackle by Nathan Wright saw Afc Halifax hold on to that clean sheet. It was a great team display, and Halifax were Far And Away the best team on the day, from the defence who played with such quality all game, up to the strikers who were deadly.

There was A Few God Men to pick from for the Man Of The Match, and if ever there should have been a team award, it was for this game, but with his 5 goals and some fantastic finishing, Adam Ramsden got the honour.

AFC HALIFAX 12 (TWELVE) – Leyton Orient 0

Adam Ramsden 5

Martin Probets 5

Phil 1

Nathan Wright 1

Man Of The Match – Adam Ramsden.
