After the last game of the season on Saturday where the Shaymen ended their season on a high with a 2-0 win over playoff hopefuls AFC Fylde I caught up with one of the outstanding performers of the game, Jordan Preston who looked back at the days game and the reviewed the rest of the season.

Q: A Brilliant 2-0 win away at Fylde what were your thoughts on the game?

I think we played good football today, obviously we know that Fylde have rested a few of their players, but that makes it harder for us because the players who came in are trying to make a point. But we were the better team and played some good stuff.

Q: That is it for the season now looking back at the season what were your thoughts on the 2018/19 season?

Yeah I think its been good, on a personal level, I started well and we had a good start to the season, a couple of poor games after Christmas and then Deviant and Duku came in and when players are playing as well as what they are, you’ve just gotta keep working hard and hope you get your opportunity.

Q: This season the Shaymen have been playing really well against top 6 teams, does this spell good news for next season?

Yeah course it does, I think the challenge is now that we have to become more consistent. Like you said we have played really well against top 6 sides, but it has been with the lower place teams that we have struggled to break down. A lot of draws or we’ve lost one nil, we have not had many teams who have turned us over. Sometimes we’ve just not been able to score, or we’ve scored a couple but conceded. Its just been a bit of everything yeah.

Q: Finally a word on the fans today who have again travelled in numbers and made themselves known how good have they been this year?

Yeah, the fans have been brilliant away from home, like today, even when we’ve been to places like Hartlepool. One that stood out for me was Harrogate where the fans have travelled there and were louder than the home fans. But yeah, the turnout has been brilliant.
