FC Halifax Town won 1-0 away at Woking for the final away league match of the season with Rob Harkerโ€™s third goal in four games, but finished the game with 10 men as substitute Mani Dieseruvwe was shown a straight red card within two minutes of coming on.

Town boss Chris Millington made two changes as Harvey Gilmour and Millenic Alli came in for Mani Dieseruvwe and Jamie Cooke

It was the home side who had the first opportunity of the game as James Daly raced through on goal, but he dragged his shot wide of the post.

The Shaymen took the lead on 21 minutes with their first opportunity of the game, Tylor Golden chested the ball down and unleashed a shot which was only parried by Woking goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen into the path of Rob Harker, who tapped the ball into the empty net for the only goal of the game.

Woking who needed victory to climb to third in the table before the final day of the season looked to equalise, but Jim Kellermannโ€™s effort was straight at Sam Johnson.

Millenic Alli was booked for a foul on James Daly on 39 minutes, Wokingโ€™s captain Josh Casey played a low ball into the box for Rhys Browne but his shot from a tight angle was saved by Johnson for a corner. The ball in saw Nwabuokei shot blocked for another corner but the resulting corner flicked off Joe McNerney for a goal kick.

Just before the break, the ball into the box found Nwabuokei and his shot was blocked by Adam Senior. The Woking players and fans appealed for handball and the ball fell to a Woking striker, but Town were able to block for a corner inside the six yard box.

In the second half, Alli and Angello Cappello combined down the left-hand side and Cappelloโ€™s effort hit the side netting.

Josh Casey went down under a challenge from Millenic Alli in the box, but referee Scott Tallis waved away his appeals for a penalty.

Another appeal for a penalty, the ball into the back post looked for James Daly and he collided with Sam Johnson and out for a goal kick despite the appeals from the players.

Substitute Marcus Dackers got onto a loose ball at the edge of the box, but his effort was well watched by Johnson and saved by the Town number one.

A long ball from Jaaskelainen came off the head of Cappello for a Woking corner. Caseyโ€™s ball into the box was headed onto the post from Padraig Amond and Town were able to clear.

The ball was worked into Rob Harker on the right hand side, with little options he chose to shoot but harmlessly over the bar.

Lofthouseโ€™s cross found itโ€™s way to Rhys Browne and he had the goal in his sight but his shot was blocked and deflected over the bar by Johnson. Caseyโ€™s ball into the box was headed goalwards by McNerney and Johnson had to make the save and parried the ball away from danger.

Mani Dieseruvwe came on for the goalscorer Rob Harker with five minutes of the game remaining and he was shown a straight red card for a challenge in midfield on McNerney.

The Shaymen continued to defend well with their 10 men pressing the Woking players and saw the game out for just the fifth league away win of the season.

Town are back in action on Saturday for the visit of Eastleigh to the Shay for the final game of the season, 5.30pm kick-off.
