FC Halifax Town recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over the league’s bottom side Maidstone United with goals from Mani Dieseruvwe, Milli Alli and Rob Harker.

Town boss Chris Millington kept the same team that beat both Wrexham and York City over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The first opportunity of the game came from Maidstone’s Ryan Viggars, he went past Harvey Gilmour and his shot from the edge of the box was deflected wide for the first corner of the game, Roarie Deacon’s ball into the box was cleared at the near post.

The Shaymen took the lead in the 15th minute, Milli Alli found Adam Senior on the edge of the box and his shot was saved by Stones goalkeeper Tom Hadler, but Mani Dieseruvwe was on hand to tap home the rebound into the net off the left-hand post.

Town worked the ball to Dieseruvwe, and he turned, but his shot was blocked, it fell to Tylor Golden at the edge of the box, but his first-time shot was saved by Hadler.

Millenic Alli was fouled in the corner, it gave Town the opportunity with a Golden freekick into the box and Senior headed wide at the far post.

Dominic Odusanya won the ball in midfield after Adam Senior was unable to control Alli’s pass, and he released Deacon who scored in the return fixture at the Gallagher Stadium, he got into the box, but his shot was well saved by Sam Johnson, and it was cleared for a throw.

Town’s first corner was awarded in the 35th minute, Golden and Milli combined and won a second one. This time, Golden’s ball into the box was well cleared inside the box.

The first booking of the game came in the 45th minute as Raphe Brown brought down Dieseruvwe which gave Gilmour a chance from a freekick, but his effort was deflected over for a corner. Gilmour’s ball into the box was met by the head of Jamie Stott but over the bar as the half time whistle was blown with Town 1-0 ahead.

In the second half, an early Town attack found Golden down the right and his cross was blocked for a corner, Gilmour’s ball into the box was cleared for a second one and Gilmour’s ball was claimed by Hadler

A Good header by Dieseruvwe into Golden and his touch found Cooke and his shot was saved by Hadler from the edge of the box.

A flick on for Dieseruvwe saw Alli into the box and his touch took him past Hadler but too tight an angle and hit his shot into the side netting.

Long ball from Johnson was perfectly controlled by Dieseruvwe which took him away from his defender, but his shot was dragged well wide of the target.

Millington made the first change of the game as Rob Harker replaced Angelo Cappello, then Gilmour was booked for a challenge on Odusanya for just Town’s second foul of the game before Town’s second change saw Matt Warburton on for Tylor Golden.

The first substitution for the visitors followed shortly afterwards with Perri Iandolo on for Bivesh Gurung.

Town’s second goal came in the 65th minute, Alli shot was going away from goal and found Cooke, his cross from the by-line was then met by the head of Alli whose header was perfectly in the corner and saw his trademark cartwheel celebration in front of the South Stand.

The third goal saw Mani Dieseruvwe turn provider, he turned on the left-hand side and easily went past Brown and his cross was perfect for Harker to tap home at the far post.

The final sub of the game saw Mark Marshall replace Dominic Odusanya for Maidstone.

It turned into a very comfortable afternoon for the Shaymen who scored three goals for the third game in a row and will now be back in action on Tuesday night for the penultimate home game of the season when Bromley will be the visitors to the Shay, 7.45pm kick off.
