FC Halifax Town progress to the semi-final of the FA Trophy.

Town came into this game looking to move just one game away from Wembley.

A goal in either half from Milli Alli and Harvey Gilmour ensured Town progressed to the semis.

Chris Millington made five changes from the side that drew against Gateshead. Festus Arthur, Jack Senior, Luke Summerfield , Matt Warburton, and Mani Dieseruvwe all came into the starting 11.

Town started the game with two positive attacks; however, the offside flag was their downfall on both occasions. Jamie Stott looked to find Alli, but the flag was up against him. Just after that a ball was sent down the line, it fell to Warburton to cross in but he was deemed offside.

Sam Johnson was called into action for Town when Myles Kenlock’s cross was floated into the box. An Aldershot player managed to get a head to it but Johnson saved comfortably.

In the 12th minute, Alli broke the deadlock to give Town the lead. He ran down the left-hand side, stepping over numerous Aldershot defenders, before he fired the ball into the back of the next from a tight angle.

The hosts almost had an instant reply for Town when Tahvon Campbell managed to beat Johnson to get his shot away. Arthur was there for Town to clear away the danger.

Just after the 15 minute mark, Town had the ball in the back of the net again through Dieseruvwe but it was ruled out when the referee deemed him offside.

Dieseruvwe dummied a shot on goal before he passed the ball across the box to Warburton. He got his shot away but his effort rattled the woodwork and the Aldershot defence were able to deal with the pressure.

Alli had his second goal of the afternoon denied by the bar. He ran down the left before he reached the edge of the box. His curling shot hit the bar.

Just before the break, Jesse Debrah was booked for Town after he was deemed to have tripped Campbell.

Both sides made a change at half time. For the hosts, KaroyAnderson was replaced by Tyler Frost, and for Town Warburton was replaced by Jamie Cooke.

In the 55th minute, Cooke received a yellow card after he kicked the ball away when Aldershot were awarded a free kick.

Aldershot saw more of the ball than Town in the opening spells of the second half. However, Town were able to deal with their pressure every time. Their best chance came in the 65th minute when Frost sent a ball in to find Campbell but it was just beyond his reach.

The hosts thought they had found an equaliser when Justin Amaluzor found Frost in the box. He went for goal, but his shot flashed behind the goal.

Town’s second change saw Gilmour replace Summerfield. A few minutes later, Town made their third change as Millington opted for a change of frontman. Dieseruvwe made way for Rob Harker.

In the 84th minute, Aldershot made their second change. Tommy Willard replaced Josh McQuoid.

Super-sub-Gilmour made sure it was a victory for Town when he doubled the lead in the 89th minute. He intercepted the ball just beyond the halfway line and charged to the edge of the box before taking a shot. His effort took a deflection and found the back of the net.

The Fourth Official indicated four minutes of added time but there was nothing Aldershot could do to change the course of the afternoon as Town progressed to the FA Trophy semi-final.
