FC Halifax Town were defeated 1-0 at home to Maidenhead United in the Vanarama National League.

Town boss Chris Millington kept the same Xi from Tuesday nightโ€™s 1-1 draw with Solihull Moors at the Shay whilst Alan Devonshire made one change from their last game with Remy Clerima in for Will De Havilland.

The only goal of the game in the 9th minute, Town lost the ball in midfield and Reece Smith laid the ball into Ashley Nathaniel-George off and he showed great composure and fired into the roof of the net past Sam Johnson.

Town looked to find an equaliser straight away as Milli Alli and Angelo Cappello combined down the left-hand side, the ball into the box was played back to Harvey Gilmour on the edge of the box but his first-time shot was blasted over the bar.

Maidenhead looked to double their lead with a throw on the far side which was cleared to Reece Smith, and he fired over the bar from a tight angle in the 25th minute.

Harvey Gilmour won the ball in midfield and found Cappello, his cross was headed into the path of Tylor Golden who got past his man but his shot from inside the box was over the bar.

A Capello cross into the box was flicked on and Adam Senior looked to be in on goal and the defender took it off him just as he was about to shoot.

Townโ€™s efforts kept on coming, Jesse Debrah throw in on the near side, flicked on and Max Wright overhead kick wide of the target.

Town made two changes at the break with Jamie Cooke and Fidel Oโ€™Rourke on for Milli Alli and Max Wright.

A cross from the right-hand side was met by the head of Mani Dieseruvwe but straight at the goalkeeper Alexis Andre.

Maidenhead got the first corner of the game in the 54th minute, Sam Barrett into the box and Charlee Adams shot saved by Johnson low to his left hand side.

Debrah throw was flicked on, and Mani Dieseruvwe looked to turn as his shot was blocked. The fans appealed for the penalty, but referee Ben Wyatt denied the spot kick.

The final sub for the home side saw Rob Harker on for Mani Dieseruvwe in the 65th minute.

Tylor Golden freekick into the box, Andre missed the ball and Jamie Stott hooked the ball just wide of the target, then another Golden freekick was met by Stott but was saved by Andre on the line

A foul on Jamie Cooke 35 yards from goal which gave substitute Rob Harker the chance but his curled effort was over the bar.

Goldenโ€™s corner was headed over his own bar for another corner, headed away and ball worked to Fidel Oโ€™Rourke but his shot saved easily by Andre.

Town are back in action on Tuesday night with the visit of Wealdstone to the Shay, 7.45pm kick-off.
