FC Halifax Town were defeated 1-0 by Scunthorpe United at the Shay on Wednesday night.
The game was the 100th appearance in a Town shirt for Jack Senior, and the 50th for Jesse Debrah.
Town Gaffer Chris Millington made 3 changes from the last game against Torquay United with Angelo Cappello, Jordan Slew and Rob Harker included in the starting lineup.
The game started with a minute of applause for ex-Halifax Town player Jordan Sinnott โSinbadโ who sadly passed away exactly 3 years ago.
After the kick-off, both teams went into the offensive straight away which was marked by a decent strike from Alfie Beestin who missed the left post in the 5th minute of the game.
In the 14th minute, Cameron Wilson put the away side up front after the mistake from Festus Arthur who headed the ball straight to the Scunthorpe striker who didnโt miss the chance.
Just 10 minutes after Town conceded the goal, they found themselves a chance to square the result after Angelo Capello shot from a long distance was saved by Owen Foster who couldn’t keep the ball, but the second shot didnโt find the net either.
In the 27th minute, another poor header attempt from Festus Arthur gave the opposition striker a one-on-one situation to put Scunthorpe United 2 goals ahead. Halifaxโs defender fixed his mistake by defending off the line and keeping Town’s hopes for a good result alive.
This dangerous situation didnโt turn off the Shayman players as Rob Harker found himself in a one-on-one situation after Jamie Cookeโs excellent dribbling which could have become a great assist if only Harker’s strike wouldnโt be denied by the away side goalie.
The first half brought the fans a high pace game with a few goal situations and left them with expectations for the second half of the game.
In the 60th minute, Angelo Capello was fouled by Scunthorpeโs defender Reagan Ogle just outside the penalty box, but Halifax players didn’t use this free-kick opportunity to threaten the opposite-side goalie.
Four minutes later Yamen Osawe deep cross almost surprised Owen Foster and gave Town the equalizer, but the goalkeeper acted wisely and threw the ball over the bar.
In the 75th minute Festus Arthurโs shot went far over the bar after a well-played corner which was Townโs last occasion to equalize.
The game of two halves ended with a defeat for FC Halifax Town which stopped their amazing unbeaten home run in the last 7 games at the Shay Stadium.
Town will be back in action this upcoming Saturday when they will travel to Notts County, 3pm kick-off.
