FC Halifax Town started the New Year with a point to make it six wins and a draw from the last seven at home with a 2-2 draw against Altrincham at the Shay.

Town boss Chris Millington made four changes from the Boxing Day defeat at the J Davidson Stadium with Jack Senior, Jesse Debrah, Jamie Cooke and Milli Alli into the starting XI.

The Shaymen had to come from behind twice to earn a point thanks to second half goals from Milli Alli and Osaymen Osawe.

Altrincham went ahead on 12 minutes with what can only be described as a freak goal. Elliot Osborneโ€™s shot from distance went through Town goalkeeper Sam Johnsonโ€™s legs and trickled into the empty net.

They looked to double their lead two minutes later, Ryan Colclough who opened the scoring in the Boxing Day match turned and got his shot but was saved by Johnson at the second attempt

Townโ€™s first opportunity saw Mani Dieseruvwe release Milli Alli but his shot from a tight angle was deflected out for the first Shaymen corner.

Chris Conn-Clark had a freekick parried around post for a corner by Johnson before Edward Jones shot from tight angle was saved by feet of Johnson

Town continued to look for an equaliser, Alli had an effort wide of the target

Into the second half, Ryan Colcough had effort inside the penalty area, the ball came to him quickly, but his shot was well wide and not troubling Johnson

Colclough got away from Warburton, his cross into the box found Connor Jennings but his shot was wide of the target.

Milli Alli equalised for the Shaymen after excellent work from Harvey Gilmour to win the ball back, he found Alli in the box and he fired home from a tight angle past Oliver Byrne

Jack Senior and Warburton combined; the latterโ€™s curled shot wide of the target from 10 yards out

77 mins โ€“ Colclough shot saved by Johnson and the ball fell to substitute Marcus Dinanga, his shot o the rebound was wide of the target from Dinanga, but the offside flag was up against the frontman.

Altrincham went ahead on 84 minutes; Matt Warburton foul gave the Robins a freekick and Conn Clark curled the ball over the wall into the goal.

However, Town werenโ€™t to be denied a point, Matt Warburtonโ€™s corner was headed powerfully by Osawe for the second equaliser from inside the six yard box

Town looked for a winner,ย  Osawe with the goal in his sights but shot wide of the target and had another effort on the left hand side, cut inside and he powerfully shot just over the bar

Altrincham were denied the three points, Ryan Colclough shot was goalbound but Marcus Dinanga put the ball into the net and the offside flag denied them a winner.
