It was a massive win for FC Halifax Town at home to York, with a strong performance giving them a 1-0 win to move from the bottom of the league to nineteenth

9th placed York were coming off a big 5-0 win away at Barnet, whilst Town had suffered a 4-0 defeat in their last game at home to Woking

Town started the game quickly, winning a corner after Tylor Goldenโ€™s cross was blocked, although Summerfieldโ€™s cross was headed wide from Jesse Debrah.

In the fourth minute Kian Spence beat two York players and hit a left footed shot inside the box, however it went straight to Ethan Ross for an easy save.

Halifax were unlucky not to take a 1-0 lead in the eleventh minute; finding the net in through a right footed finish inside the box from Rob Harker, however the goal was not counted as the referee had blown his whistle on an earlier foul just before the shot to the Town fans disappointment.

Soon after, Milli Alli was unlucky to find the net with a good shot at the near post from the left side of the box, hitting the side netting, fooling a lot of the Town fans who cheered thinking he had scored.

Town won another corner in the 13th minute, it was temporarily cleared by York but won back by Town, until a skied shot from Festus Arthur.

York went on the counter in the 17th, winning a corner after a cross from the right side of the box was blocked. Dan Pybus crossed into the near post, with Hurst attempting a backheeled shot but getting it wrong for Johnson to easily pick up the ball. Moments later Ryan Fallowfield went down on the outside of the box, he limped off the pitch and got subbed off for Mitch Hancox.

The Shaymen took a well deserved lead in the 28th minute after Kian Spence was found wide open in the box, crossing the ball to Rob Harker who converted from a few yards out with a right footed finish, scoring his first goal in a Town shirt, drawing a massive cheer from the Town fans.

In the 37th minute, Halifax were unlucky not to find a second, with Jamie Cooke hitting a first time shot on the right side of the box, only just hitting underside of the bar.

41 minutes in, Mitch Hancox received a yellow card after barging Jamie Cooke, winning Halifax a free kick. The ball was crossed in well from the right about 30 yards out, nearly finding multiple Halifax players, however York keeper Ethan Ross managed to recover the ball.

Townโ€™s pressing was excellent in the first half, many times when York got the ball out of their half it was won back well by the town defence.

The fourth official indicated 4 mins of added time. A minute later Jack Senior was given a yellow card after a shirt pull, giving York a free kick. Yorkโ€™s cross managed to reach the offside John-Lewis, but his shot near goal was saved easily by Johnson anyway before the whistle was blown for offside.

Just before the end of the half, Town won a corner that was taken by Summerfield, however it was cleared away by York just before the half time whistle was blown. The town players drew a big round of applause from the home fans, seeing a massively improved Town side from last weekendโ€™s defeat.

At the start of the second half, York made one change with Luke James replacing Fraser Kerr.

Jack Senior brought a little bit of panic from the Town fans with a foul at the start of the second half, already being on a yellow card. Luckily for the Shaymen he did not receive a card.

Town were unlucky to find a third moments later with a great counter from Jack Senior, dribbling a good 30 yards up the pitch into the box, finding an open Town shirt however the chance was not converted.

In the 54th minute Tyler Golden received yellow after a foul just by the halfway line, the referee played advantage after York won the ball back, but after the chance went, he saw yellow.

A minute later Town had another chance from Jordan Keane outside the box with a decent right footed shot that was caught by Ethan Ross.

In the 59th minute Town won another corner, crossed in by Summerfield, but cleared by York who were now on the counter. York won a free kick on the edge of the box that was crossed in near post but didnโ€™t find any York shirts. From a throw in York managed to get the ball in the box, it was eventually cleared by Town after a scrappy half chance from York.

Milli Alli went on a great run in the 64th minute, eventually finding Cooke on the right side of the box for a decent shot that was caught by Ross. A minute later York won a corner, drawing a shout from the 1055 away fans after the cross as it appeared to hit the hand of Tyler Golden in the box, however it was not called by the referee.

In the 68th minute Kian Spence was given a yellow card for a challenge, giving York a free kick from about 30 yards out. It was driven low to the feet of John Lewis but was defended well by Town.

Lennel John Lewis went down a minute later in the box, drawing shouts for a penalty from the York fans, however it was waved off by the referee.

Mani Dieseruvwe had a shot in a good position in the 84th, however the shot was hit too hard and went over the bar.

York were putting on the pressure in the final 5 minutes of normal time, getting the ball into the Halifax half and looking threatening, however the Shaymen won a free kick to lessen the Townโ€™s worries a little.

Harvey Gilmour came on for Kian Spence in the 87th minute. In the same minute Lennel John-Lewis received yellow for a foul. Town won their fifth corner in the 89th minute after Kuogan headed the ball out. Dieseruvwe took the corner and played a nice 1-2, however the chance was cleared soon after.

York almost found an equaliser in the 92nd minute, with Kouhyar hitting the ball just over the bar to the disappointment of the travelling away fans.

With 40 seconds left Dieseruvwe was brought down near the centre circle, for a Town free kick.
