Following FC Halifax Town ‘s 2-0 defeat against Barnet, manager Chris Millington spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“I didn’t enjoy it at all,” Millington said. “I don’t believe at any stage we looked like the team we’re building and trying to be. We didn’t compete for enough so we’re very disappointed.”

The hosts took the lead early on thanks to a tidy finish from Ephron Mason-Clark.

“We’ve just mentioned that in the dressing room, they deserved the lead,” Millington told Shaymen TV. “We’ve got to give Barnet some credit because what they did, they did very well. They were athletic, aggressive in the play and they looked to play forward quickly. They had a system which they affected and performed very well.”

Jamie Stott received his marching orders for a foul on Nicke Kabamba as the striker looked to go through on goal.

“We’re not about excuses and we back the officials,” Millington said. “There is a little frustration around some of the inconsistencies. It then becomes harder to coach the lads around these decisions when they were going the way they were.”

Town host Torquay United next Saturday and Millington is hoping the team can bounce back to pick up the first three points of the season.

“We’ve got to get the lads right,” Millington told Shaymen TV. “I’ve now got one or two selection headaches that I didn’t want to have. We’ve got to review the game and have a look back as there were some basic things that just weren’t right today that we’ll need to get right for next week.”
