Following FC Halifax Town’s 2-0 win over Torquay United, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“They came and frustrated us early on,” Wild said. “They came with a really good game plan. We were poor in the first half. We couldn’t get a hold of the ball and we couldn’t get out. Their game plan really worked against us. We were very lucky to go in 0-0 at half time. But then we came out in the second half and we showed a lot more of ourselves.”

Billy Waters opened the scoring on the hour mark to net his 15th league goal of the season.

“It was a great finish,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “It was a Billy sort of goal. He had to react to it going down the side and it was a really good finish. He’s been fantastic for us this year and long may that continue.”

Gerry McDonagh put Town 2-0 with less than 20 minutes left as he headed home for his first league goal for the club.

“I’m so pleased for Gerry,” Wild said. “We’ve worked so hard this season to get him back to where he was and he’s been unfortunate to net get a game over the last few weeks. But today, I thought he was excellent when he came on and to cap it off with a goal, I’m sure he’ll be dead pleased tonight.”

Town make the trip to Wales on Tuesday to face Wrexham in front of the BT Sport cameras.

“We’re basically playing a League One club,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “They’ve got a League One manager and players. So it’s an opportunity for us, me as a manager against Phil (Parkinson), and our football club to go and express ourselves against a League One club. We’ll give it everything we’ve got and see if we can upset the applecart.”
