FC Halifax Town defeated play-off chasers, Bromley, at The Shay Stadium. A goal courtesy of Luke Summerfield was enough for a 1-0 win.

Summerfield received the ball from Billy Waters, around 30 yards out, and hit a low shot that beat goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe. It was Summerfield’s first league goal of the season, and he spoke to Shaymen TV about it, “It was nice to see the ball nestle in the back of the net,” he said. “After the game, Billy and I said that it was the longest one-two in history for the build-up to the goal!”

Luke added, “My celebration was a look of relief because we were huffing and puffing under the cosh in the second half, so it was a little bit of relief for me. Also, we know that when we go in front, as a team, we are more than capable of keeping a clean sheet to see the match out.”

The strike was the first time Summerfield had been on the scoresheet at home in front of fans due to last season being played behind closed doors, “On a personal level, it was really nice to score in front of the fans at The Shay,” Luke explained. “However, getting the three points was the biggest thing tonight. We said that getting the win in the Dover Athletic game was massive, but that would’ve meant nothing if we didn’t get the result today.”

Summerfield ended his piece to Shaymen TV by looking ahead to Torquay United, who visit The Shay on Saturday, “We said that this week is a massive period for us,” he stated. “To be honest, the away win at Weymouth has set us up nicely for these two big home wins now. We’ll take it game-by-game and prepare right as we go again on Saturday.”
