FC Halifax Town defeated National League basement side Dover Athletic 2-1 at The Shay Stadium. Current Town and former Dover winger Jamie Allen spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.

Allen began his interview by assessing the game, “Firstly, Dover came here and gave it a really good go,” he stated. “We knew before the game that they would come here and do that. As for ourselves, we knew that the goals would come if we kept chipping away. To be honest, we should’ve probably scored more – especially in the second half. Above all, the main thing is getting the three points.”

Jamie had a stellar game out on the right-wing, a performance that saw Town’s number 7 win many sprints with Dover’s left-back before getting into the box. Allen, therefore, spoke about his contribution, “I thought I did well today,” Jamie said. “I knew once their full-back got booked, it was a chance for me to attack at him. To be fair, I should’ve probably got at him a little bit more, but the game wasn’t really played on my side. However, I did feel that myself and Tyrell Warren combined well on the right.”

The winger played for visitors Dover between 2017 and 2019, so he discussed what it was like coming up against them, “It’s always nice to play against a former club,” he admitted. “There aren’t many players left from the squad I played with at Dover, but I do know the manager and assistant manager well.”

Allen ended his piece to Shaymen TV by looking ahead to Halifax’s next game which is at The Shay on Tuesday night against Bromley, “We’re back in on Monday to start the preparation for Bromley,” Jamie said. “We know what they are about, so we will hope to get three points from that fixture.”
