Weymouth: It Was A Really Professional Performance

Following FC Halifax Town’s 2-0 win away at Weymouth, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“It was a really professional performance,” Wild said. “Under tough conditions, I thought we defended really well. I said at half time that what we’ll need to do is learn the lessons. When we were heading and it wasn’t clearing, we tried to play it down the sides and the ball did not stay in play. I said that in the second half we’ll need to tweak those few things and we certainly did that.”

Tom Bradbury opened the scoring early in the second half with a great finish with his weaker foot that found the bottom corner.

“It’s a really well worked set-piece,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “That’s two set-piece goals in two games. Really pleased with how we have scored off of a set-piece and that goal steadied us a bit. That goal allowed us to really take control of the game and we looked comfortable.”

Zak Dearnley netted his first league goal for the club with just added time remaining.

“Really pleased for him,” Wild said. “We had been speaking about getting beyond them in wide areas and running off the back of them out wide. JT (Jamie Thomas) has done that really well and what a really good finish from Zak. He could have even got another one just two minutes later as well.”

Town’s next fixture comes against Dover who continue to struggle at the bottom of the table.

“Their result today doesn’t matter,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We’ll be treating them like any other game. We’ll do our due diligence on them and we’ll work as hard as we can. We know we want to keep this run going and we are certainly capable.”
