FC Halifax Town will go top of the Vanarama National League tomorrow if they can beat Eastleigh FC at the Shay, 3pm kick-off.
League leaders Chesterfield are in FA Cup Third Round action this weekend away at Premiership side Chelsea and the Shaymen can overtake them in the table with a win over midtable Eastleigh.
Town are unbeaten in the last five league games and have taken 18 points from the last 27 on offer with just one loss in the last 9 games which came at home to Wrexham in November.
Two draws on the road against leaders Chesterfield and Grimsby Town see the Shaymen sit 2nd in the table just 2 points behind the Spireites. Grimsby will come to the Shay on Tuesday night in the return fixture.
Billy Waters remains top goalscorer with 11 goals in 21 league appearances followed by Jordan Slew with 7 and Matty Warburton on 5.
Eastleigh come into the game in 12th place with just two away victories in the league this season but have won 7 on their home ground. They haven’t played away from home in the league since the 23rd November when they beat Dagenham 1-0 and they also beat Wealdstone 2-1 in October.
They have just one loss in their last six games and have played their last four at home including victories over Weymouth and Torquay since Christmas.
Tyrone Barnett is their top goalscorer with 5 goals in 14 appearances, whilst Tom Whelan and Ben House both have four goals each.
The two sides met at the Shay in December 2020, Town won 3-1 thanks to goals from Jame Allen, Kieran Green and Nyal Bell whilst Tyrone Barnett scored the Spitfires second half goal
