Following FC Halifax Town’s 1-1 draw away at Grimsby Town, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“Again, it is a fair result,” Wild said. “You come away from home to these big clubs and the crowd gets up and you need to weather the storm. I thought we did that very well today. I think a point is a fair result and I’m happy to have gone to Chesterfield and to have come to Grimsby and take a point from both.”

Town took the lead early in the second half as Kian Spence followed-up on Jordan Slew’s fierce strike to put the Shaymen in front.

“That’s what Kian brings to the team,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “He’s got loads of legs. He’s getting forward and breaking away from midfield to try and get on the end of things. Well done to him. It was a classic Jordan Slew strike at goal and thankfully Kian’s there to put it away after the keeper made the save.”

The Shaymen led from the 54th to the 91st minute as Jordan Maguire-Drew’s header looped over Sam Johnson to ensure both sides took home one point.

“They are a very good side,” Wild said. “They will be in and around where we want to be. We’ve just come here and got a point so we should be happy with that. The goal at the end, these things happen. That’s football, that’s life. We are still on track.”

Town host Eastleigh on Saturday and Wild is hoping for three points to back up what the Shaymen have picked up on the road.

“A rare Saturday home game,” Wild joked. “We are looking forward to the game and being at home with our fans. We’ll be looking to continue what has been a really good home form this season. With Grimsby again next Tuesday, they are all big games and we’re looking forward to getting stuck into them.”
