The points were shared at Blundell Park as FC Halifax Town were held to a 1-1 draw with Grimsby Town.

Pete Wild made one change to the starting line up with Jay Benn in for the unwell Jack Senior.

Town started the game well as Jordan Slew drew a foul just outside the box, however as Gilmour took the kick, Grimsby jumped the highest to head away

Grimsby hit back with a free kick of their own from the left side of the pitch, but Tyrell Warren got his boot to the ball and was able to clear Towns lines

Erico Sousa was causing serious problems for The Shaymen as he dribbled his way to the edge of the box before his cross was well caught by Sam Johnson in the Halifax net.

On the quarter hour mark Michee Efete ran the length of the pitch on the right-hand side before his eventual shot was deflected into the arms of Johnson.

In a half full of chances Grimsby arguably had the best chance to score when Maquire-Drew had two efforts on goal, none which tested the keeper as Jay Benn could head away.

35 minutes in and Halifax had their best chance of the game so far as a ball was played to Billy Waters who was running in one and one before the control of the ball left his feet and Grimsby were able to clear the ball away.

Grimsby were piling on the pressure 4 minutes before half time as substitute Alex Hunt had a shot from range that went wide and the Sousa again with another shot that was deflected wide for a Grimsby corner.

In stoppage time Grimsby nearly took the lead of the game when Sousa had his shot blocked by the Halifax back line.

Just 3 minutes into the second half and Grimsby had their fans on their feet as a brilliant shot from Jordan Maquire-Drew from outside the box curled onto the crossbar.

Straight after and Kian Spence was called upon to clear a Grimsby header off the line to keep the scores at bay.

Waters thought he was going to have a run through on goal before being fouled just past the halfway line.

On the 50th minute Halifax clicked into gear as Matty Warburton hit a shot from outside the box which was well tipped over by Max Crocombe in the Grimsby net.

4 minutes later and the deadlock was broken as Jordan Slew for Halifax hit an effort from outside the box which was parried by Crocombe but straight into the path of Kian Spence who slotted it into the net to give the Shaymen the lead.

Grimsby didnโ€™t fold as they hit back with a long range shot of their own which flew way over the bar in the end.

Jordan Maquire-Drew was next to hit a shot for Grimsby, Harvey Gilmour slid in well to get a good block on the ball.

Shaun Pearson took a shot on which looked to be creeping into the bottom left corner, but it fell just wide of the post.

Halifax were left having to defend off the goal line again as a Grimsby header so nearly fell in.

In the 64th minute Ben Fox took on the Town defence before taking on a shot which fell wide.

Grimsby carried on piling on the pressure as Maquire-Drew took a shot on from the edge of the box which was headed away from Bradbury to keep Halifax ahead.

In added time at the end of the game Grimsby claimed a deserved equaliser as the cross was played into the back post to Maquire-Drew who headed in.

The points were shared in Grimsby as Halifax remain 2nd and Grimsby remain mid-table in 10th.
