Following FC Halifax Town’s 0-0 draw away at Bromley, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“We’re really pleased with the point,” Wild said. “In the press during the week they said they were going to try and bully us in the set-pieces, and I don’t think they managed it at all. I think they stopped us playing a little bit, the pitch probably helped them with that. However, any point on the road is a good point and I’m really happy with that today.”

Both sides created chances, but neither side looked more threatening than the other as both sets of defences came out on top.

“I don’t think there was really anything in between the two sides today,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “They cancelled out how we wanted to play, and we cancelled out how they wanted to play. That’s probably the most important summary of the game. Whilst neither of us we were really able to get on top for a longer period, we’ve got to be happy with the point as the away team.”

The best chance of the game fell to Michael Cheek who stepped up to the penalty spot after 70 minutes, but the striker failed to convert.

“We always seem to concede a penalty here,” Wild said. “I’m glad that for once Michael Cheek hasn’t been able to score. That’s also seven out of nine clean sheets. Everybody is talking about how good we are on the ball, but that’s seven out of nine clean sheets, one loss in 12. People should be giving us credit for how good we are defensively as well.”

Town now have a week before the next fixture as we host Maidenhead United for the first round of the FA Cup.

“Out thoughts now turn to the FA Cup,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We’re really pleased that we have a full week to work on it. It has been a long hard week and the lads have given everything that have got so I’m really pleased to get a bit more rest time. They are the only team to come to the Shay and beat us, so we’ll be looking to get some revenge on Saturday.”
