Defender Jack Senior spoke to Shaymen TV following the 1-0 loss away to Solihull Moors.

β€œI thought we dominated it for large parts of the game with the ball. We came here to press them, and that’s exactly what we did, we made it a battle in midfield, out wide. We stuck to our task, we had a lot of the ball and there were quite a few chances were we could’ve gone 1-0 up or equalised after their goal went in. For us, it’s a poor goal to concede and we’re not used to conceding for a while so it just hurts that little bit more. It’s one of them, but we shouldn’t be conceding goals like that and we’ve had chances. I’ve certainly had a few where I could’ve put it on a plate for people so I’m disappointed with that and myself. If you look at the whole picture, I think we deserved to get something out of the game but it’s one of those games where we haven’t.”

The full-back said it was disappointing that Town conceded to Solihull’s only clear chance of the game, saying; β€œWe haven’t started the second half as well as we have done before, they had us penned in, a lot of throw ins and stuff like that. One ball in behind in then they’re in, they square it, so it wasn’t against the run of play in the second half but it was for the first half- we dominated the ball. When they went 1-0 up we stuck still stuck to our task, we had chances to equalise and on another day we score however many, three or four, but it’s just one of those days. We’re all disappointed with the end result because it’s the end of our run.”

Senior thought there were positives to take from the performance despite the result, saying; β€œI think the main thing is with has a plan coming here, and obviously the scoreline doesn’t reflect it, but in terms in what we’ve actually done in the game, we stuck to it. We wanted to high press them, and the amount of times they didn’t play out, or when they’ve tried to, we were winning it back and to a man, we’re all working hard for each other and that’s something that hasn’t changed for a long time. It’s just one of them, we haven’t conceded that many for a while so it hurts even more, but there are positives to take. We’ve got a chance on Tuesday to turn it around now.”

On Tuesday’s game against Dagenham & Redbridge, Senior said; β€œIn terms of where we are in the league and where they are, it’s a big game. We want to make sure The Shay’s a tough place to come, and so far apart from Maidenhead on the first day of the season we’ve made it tough for so everyone, so we’ll be looking to continue that. We’ll make sure we’re bang on it on Tuesday.”
