Following FC Halifax Town’s narrow 1-0 loss against Solihull Moors, manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.
“I thought we played well,” Wild said. “Both with and without the ball we did well. I thought our work rate was excellent once again. I’m really pleased with the performance but sometimes you don’t get what you deserve, and I believe we deserved at least a point. We didn’t get that today and one mistake has cost us the game which is very frustrating.”
Town got off to a quick start and looked to control the tempo whilst creating several chances, but just failed to find the back of the net.
“We were really sharp today,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We wanted to start quickly, and I thought we did that. We got beyond them we were causing them problems, but we just didn’t have that killer edge today. We have had opportunities in areas that we work on, and we just haven’t picked the right pass, or we haven’t executed what we wanted well enough and that is frustrating.”
Solihull netted the only goal of the game through Callum Maycock as he was left unmarked in the centre of the box before firing home.
“We all make misplaced passes,” Wild said. “I’m not blaming anybody, but we’ve got to track the runner. He was free on goal and that is really frustrating. We switched off for one attack and that has cost us the game.”
Town host Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday and will be hoping to continue the run of five league wins at home.
“Got to get back to home form now,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We’ve got to win our home games. Points on the road sometimes come here and there but points at home are a must. It was great to see the number of travelling fans today. You hear them all game which is fantastic, and we’ll need more of that on Tuesday to help get us over the line.”
