FC Halifax Town recorded a win and a clean sheet yesterday afternoon against Weymouth. Defender Jesse Debrah later spoke to Shaymen TV

Debrah returned from injury to start in the win, and began by giving his thoughts on the match; “I thought it was a tough game,” he said. “Weymouth set up well to frustrate us, and when they had the ball they played okay. But, all-in-all we controlled the game and played well in patches – albeit we were a little flat.

He added; “The gaffer told us at half time that we needed to up our tempo and I thought we upped it at times in the second half. Then we got our second goal, but when Weymouth changed their formation, it made it harder for us – but we kept the clean sheet – I’m really happy about that.”

As mentioned, Jesse returned back to action after time out, something he spoke about; “I’m so, so, so happy to be back,” he said with a smile. “When the team is doing well, you’re buzzing, but you want to be a part of it. I’ve been sat at home on the sofa just flicking through the scores on my phone to see if the team is winning. I’ve been glad that the team has been winning, but I want to be a part of that, so I’m happy to be back – I’ll embrace it, and be happy with the clean sheet and win.”

The next week for the Shaymen will see trips to Ilkley Town and Pontefract Collieries in the West Riding County Cup and Emirates FA Cup respectively. This is what Jesse had to say on those ties; “As the gaffer says, it’s one game at a time,” he stated. “We don’t disrespect any team at any level, because anybody can beat anybody – that’s the beauty of football. We have to go into these games with the right application because those bogey matches are the hardest ones, and I’m sure they’ll come at us with quality and a plan, so we need to be on it.
