New signing Elliot Newby spoke to Shaymen TV following the 0-0 draw away at Barnet.

Elliot Newby was announced as a new signing for Town on Friday evening, and went straight into Pete Wild’s matchday squad, showing some lively play after being brought on as a second-half substitute.

Newby explained how the move came about, saying; “I’d not played too much at Stockport this season, and I just wanted to get some games. When I heard about the chance to come here I thought it was a great opportunity and I’m glad I came.”

Newby described his style of play, saying; “I like to run with the ball, I like to create things, I like to be positive when I come and give the team something. If we’re losing, I like to try and get the ball and take the initiative really.”

The winger was pleased with his new side’s performance at Barnet, reflecting; “I thought we played really well. I thought we deserved to win, I don’t know how we didn’t win in the end really. First half, we dominated, I think we played our game and I don’t think we let them settle into their game. Second half, we’ve had another chances as well and we were unlucky. On another, they’d have probably gone in.”

Newby is looking to bed himself in with the team further before Tuesday’sfixture at Notts County, and is looking forward to having his first training session with his new team mates.

“I’ve not actually trained with the team yet, so it will be good to have a training session and get to know the lads a bit better.”
