FC Halifax Town defeated Aldershot Town 1-0 yesterday afternoon at the EBB Stadium. Town boss Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV after the match.

The Shaymen travelled down to Hampshire and faced current National League strugglers Aldershot before coming back with all three points. Town won the match through a single strike from Billy Waters.

Wild gave his thoughts on the result; “I was very pleased with the first half as we dominated the game,” the gaffer said. “We controlled the ball and deserved the lead at half time, then in the second half, we didn’t start with enough impetuous.

“In every football game, teams always have a spell, and Aldershot had a spell today but we dealt with it. We then seemed to keep the ball and dominate it, and of course they threw everything at us when they were chasing the game, but we dealt with it.”

Pete added further; “I thought in the game, there was two contrasting styles of play because in the second half, it was controlled defending, and we were stretched. But, in the first half, we were really worthy of our one-nil lead.”

The attention then turned onto Aldershot being a potential banana skin ahead of the game, with the Shots being in the relegation zone and having just appointed a new manager. “Most of my comments this week were on impetuous,” Wild stated. “The game could’ve been a banana skin, but Mark Moseley is a great manager and he’s had a little bit of time to work with his new players. So, it’s overall a good test, and we’ve come away with three points, so I’m happy.”

There was 74 amazing fans who made the long-journey over to Hampshire yesterday afternoon, and the gaffer had a message on the blue and white army. “The fans were great, loud, proud, and helped the lads dig in and show grit with determination to make sure they got over the line. The four hour trip home was made easier.”
