Following FC Halifax Town’s comfortable 3-0 win over Stockport County, Manager Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

“I’m really pleased,” Wild said. “In the first half we had to do something we are not used to doing at home which is a lot of defending because they had a lot of the ball. I thought we were nice and compact which stopped their threats and that gave us a platform for the second half. That is probably the most pleasing thing out of the day, just how good we were off the ball today.”

Town opened the scoring in the 41st minute courtesy of former Stockport man Matty Warburton. The number 10 fired a low free kick which beat the keeper to make it 1-0.

“He’s been great,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “He has been desperate to get off the mark. So to get a goal against his former club, he is certainly happy today. We seem to be scoring goals at good times. It just gives you some impetus going into half time and a platform to build on in the second half.”

Centre back Tom Bradbury doubled the Shaymen’s lead with 12 minutes left on the clock to score his second goal in as many games.

“Those are the areas we try and infiltrate every week,” Wild said. “Jamie Allen has gone into the area to try and infiltrate and it is across the near post. A centre half going across the near post is beggar’s belief but he has scored two identical goals in a week.”

Town make the trip down to Aldershot next Saturday as they look to continue this good run of form and pick up three more points on the road.

“It has been a great week,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “We looked at this week knowing it would be tough. But we have managed it really well and I’m really pleased. I have had to use all my squad as we were down to 16 bodies today. It shows that when the chance comes they have stood up to plate which is great. The boot is on the other foot now with these next two games. We’re expecting to pick up points so we’re not the plucky underdogs anymore. So we will have to change our focus now for the next couple of weeks.”
